IOMAS is aware that many adopted adults, at some time in their lives, consider looking for information about their origins and the circumstances surrounding their adoption. Some go on to search for original family members, meet and make relationships which may or may not last.
Adoptive parents, siblings and the wider family often have concerns about this – worry for the adopted adult in what they might find; concerns about the relationship they and the adopted person have now, and how that might change, and sometimes quite non-specific worries. This applies also to partners and children of adopted adults.
We are here for adoptive parents and the wider family if any of these issues are causing you concern. Talk to us.
We also have a range of books and articles which you may like to borrow to increase your understanding of the complexities surrounding the search for information and contact, and how this affects all parties to an adoption.
